About Fat Tony
Fat Tony D'Amico is a recurring character in The Simpsons, voiced by Joe Mantegna. He is a mobster and the underboss of the Springfield Mafia, whose henchmen include Legs, Louie, and Johnny Tightlips. After the original Fat Tony's death in the twenty-second season, a near-identical cousin with the same name is introduced. The character is based on real-life mobster Anthony "Fat Tony" Salerno. The original Fat Tony, Marion Anthony D'Amico, was involved in a variety of criminal enterprises in Springfield, including illegal gambling, bootlegging, and fraud. He even took out a hit on Mayor Quimby and put a contract on Homer after his private security business interfered with the mob's interests. It is revealed that he had a son, Michael, and that his wife was killed by "natural causes". Fat Tony and his mob associates meet in a "Legitimate Businessman's Social Club" and he is shown playing the violin in an episode.
