About Troy McClure
Troy McClure is a character from The Simpsons, voiced by Phil Hartman, who first appeared in the second season episode "Homer vs. Lisa and the 8th Commandment". He is an actor who often takes on low-level work, such as hosting infomercials and educational films. McClure becomes the main character in the episode "A Fish Called Selma", where he marries Selma Bouvier to revive his declining career and dispel rumors about his personal life. He also hosts "The Simpsons 138th Episode Spectacular" and "The Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase". Partially inspired by B movie actors Troy Donahue, Doug McClure, and Hartman himself, McClure's speaking appearances on the show came to an end after Hartman's tragic murder in 1998, with his final speaking role occurring in the tenth season episode "Bart the Mother". Since then, McClure has only made occasional background appearances. Despite this, he remains one of the show's most beloved characters and was ranked as the No. 1 peripheral character by IGN in 2006.
